Criminal Chester: the illustrated talk
2000 years of crime & punishment in the walled city
Take a virtual stroll through the ancient streets of Chester to hear the true crime stories of Medieval traitors, Tudor heretics and Georgian highwaymen, as well as "vagabonds" and vicious murderers throughout the city’s 2000 years of history. This illustrated talk takes you on a virtual tour of many of Chester’s famous sights, such as the Cross, the cathedral and Chester Castle to reveal a cruel, dark, alternative story of the city in the places where Cheshire’s criminal element was caught, tried and punished over the centuries.
Designed for all kinds of groups from local history societies, to U3A groups, lecture societies, book clubs, groups of legal professionals and care homes, the illustrated talk is presented by Chris Rowland, who, as a qualified Chester tourist guide, has organised walking tours on crime and punishment in the walled city for over three years.
The talk can be delivered in person or online.
Language: English
